About US

Since opening in 1980, Benaraby Dragway has been a cornerstone of Queensland’s motorsport scene. Originally known as The Golding Mile, our track has stood the test of time and continues to deliver high-octane action on a full quarter-mile strip.

Our legacy began with our first ANDRA-sanctioned event on September 13, 1980, and the passion for drag racing has only grown stronger since. Now proudly sanctioned by IHRA Australia, Benaraby Dragway is run entirely by dedicated volunteers.

Located just 30 minutes from Gladstone and 90 minutes from Rockhampton, we are a not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting safe, inclusive, and family-friendly motorsport. We’re also proud to support regional tourism and local businesses throughout Central Queensland.

Most Friday nights before an event we run the Off Street Drags and welcome a huge variety of cars and bikes, juniors, even provisional licence holders to come out test their vehicles, race their mates, have some fun and have as many runs as they can (the recent record on a Friday night is still held by Casey Rose on his 2006 Honda Hornet “Rhonda” of 22 runs). This allows people who have not had the experience of drag racing before, to come along and learn from experienced racers, understand the track and requirements and race in a controlled and safe environment. Saturday is our CQDRA Championship race rounds where the Junior Dragsters, Junior Bikes, Street Cars, Super Street Cars, Super Competition Cars, Street Bikes, Modified Bikes, & V Twins Brackets battle it out for points and the championship trophy.

We proudly host National events like the N.D.R.C. and KENDA rounds as well as feature rounds like the Torque Time No Prep 1/8 Mile series. Benaraby Dragway is synonymous with our annual 4 wheel drive drags and All Bikes which is the biggest motorcycle drag racing event in the Southern Hemisphere.

Our Mission is to promote drag racing and other forms of motor sports, to encourage competition in a vigorous and sportsman like manner and to provide opportunities for regular meetings for those who engage in drag racing and/or other forms of motor sport, both for the purposes of racing and for fellowship.
